We are seeking an experienced female support worker for a lady living with learning disabilities in the Whiston area of the city.
The primary function of this role is to provide community support and develop some independence from the family unit. You will be accessing the community for walks, shopping trips, coffee shops and cafes. The lady is an anxious person and does not like to be separated from her mother for too long. This support will allow her some quality time with a peer whilst providing short respite for the family.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in supporting an adult with learning disabilities, hold a current driving license and have knowledge of activities and places which will expand the lady’s social circle. You will be required to provide light toileting support, making sure that the lady is always clean after accessing facilities.
18 Hours per week
Days and times to be discussed at interview. Due to anxieties, shifts will be 3-4 hours. This support is to be introduced gradually so initial shifts will be built up over the first few weeks to allow the lady to get to know you and build trust.
